Adjacency Diagrams
Adjacency diagrams to work out how the building requirements should be laid out.
Both adjacency diagrams use the pocket park site from Major Project preparation as the main entrance into the hybrid sustainable housing. This will give the users a taster of what to expect in the building due to the pocket parks being based around outdoor work friendly environments for the small growing businesses in Peckham, and market stools housing the independent food businesses. This will be reflected on a larger scale in the design.
Adjacency Diagram One
- Something I'm interested in is the dwellings having independent access from the rest of the building. Perhaps the front doors will open onto the street, or perhaps could be more private with a private reception separate to the main one. This means the dwellings need to be to the west of the site to not be blocked in.
- The restaurant wouldn't work where it is on this diagram because it is an entirely public function and needs improved access points. A courtyard should be considered to help improve the access points and make them more open.
- Looking at the adjacency diagram in section will improve my sense of what will work where.
Adjacency Diagram 2
- The restaurant now also has direct access from the street, this will improve popularity as the entrance is more clearly located.
- Bottom left shows a section of how the spaces will work together, the office space is planned to have a roof garden as this improves wellbeing at work and considers my research into working after covid.
- How to better link the pocket park and the site? Rather than going directly from park to building. Could this be a courtyard in itself? Canopied inside/outside entrance.
